Overview
The improvements
planned in the Blue
Ball Properties Project will transform the area into a gateway for Brandywine
Hundred communities and surrounding natural areas. The Master Plan calls
for improvements to:

and attractive landscaping are among the amenities planned for the barn’s

- RECREATION, such
as a children's park, multi-use play fields, enhanced golfing opportunities,
and walking/biking trails
- HISTORICAL RESOURCES,
such as restoration and preservation of the Blue Ball Dairy Barn built
by industrialist Alfred I. duPont
- ENVIRONMENTAL
RESOURCES, such as "bio-swale" stormwater management
- TRANSPORTATION,
including roadway improvements and a trail system that separates vehicles
and pedestrians and links walkers and bike riders to neighboring communities
and parks.

The project
is a joint effort led by the Delaware Department of Transportation,
the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental
Control and the Delaware Economic Development Office with the
assistance of area residents, civic leaders, Brandywine Hundred
legislators and representatives from New Castle County and the
City of Wilmington. This web site provides the latest information
